ABOUT Kilmore Parish Journal

We are a voluntary committee of eleven people, with an esteemed editor, Ger Walsh. Together, we spend much of the year writing or seeking articles that connect, inform, and represent the community of Kilmore and its hinterlands, our organisations, our history, social and cultural events, photographic records, sporting life, and other stories about people, places and experiences. By October/November, the articles are polished and work on technical production begins. A new Journal is launched in early December annually. Little did the first Kilmore Journal committee members back in 1974 realise what they were starting! In 2026, we are working on Issue 55… More than half a century of lived experience in Kilmore is available to all through the Kilmore Parish Journal (KPJ), thanks to the many laudable committee members and to the many contributors of material over the years, in the form of articles, activities, memoirs, occasions, and creative works.

The world has now entered the digital age, and our committee aspires to move in tandem to ensure the Journal remains relevant to modern community life and accessible to all. Over the past year, we digitised all past editions. The launch of our dedicated website will enable people near and far to access and download these editions. Although future journals will be published in book form as normal, digitised copies will be available the following year, when they are added to the Kilmore Journal website. The secret of KPJ’s success lies in generating interesting material for and by all generations of Kilmore people; it is your magazine.
